Mäntsälä Data Center MEP Support Installation (Hilti MQ)

Background

  • Project & Site: Major two-building data center project in Mäntsälä, Finland (completing 2026).
  • Scope of Work: Data center MEP support installation – pipe supports, cable tray bracketing, and Hilti MQ modular channel systems.
  • Contractor: Rackline Oy (specialized data center bracketing contractor in Finland).
  • Result: Schedule compressed by 55 days at the client’s request midway through construction – successfully delivered 100% on time, on schedule, with zero compromise on safety.

Rackline (originally Makinakorjaamo) was invited to bid—on Hilti’s recommendation—for the data center MEP support structure installation and Hilti MQ modular system execution in a major new data hall project.

The timeline was exceptionally tight. We immediately understood the challenge: the previous contractor had refused to even bid after seeing the schedule.
Together with the Client’s representative, we conducted three coordination workshops in English with all installation partners.

The result was a mutually accepted, detailed construction timeline.

Resourcing

We knew our own team wouldn't be enough

Within one month, we launched three fast-track recruitment campaigns and more than doubled our employment contracts. Success was made possible by:

Makinakorjaamo’s reputation as an employer

We take care of our people. In addition to salary, we share profits with employees when the company succeeds.

Trusted recruitment partners

We combine strong recruitment partners with AI-driven sourcing. In Mantsala, we brought in 8 new hires in 10 days—from “go” to boots on the customer’s site.

CEO’s Background in Professional Recruitment

Double MBA and 25 years of hands-on leadership—from business consulting to mechanical installation projects. Deep understanding from HR to CxO level. Successfully recruited hundreds of people across multiple industries.

Our site supervisors and 3–4 of our most experienced technicians came from Makina

Their role: to ensure correct interpretation of drawings and maximize installation speed.

In addition, we appointed:

  • Project Manager, responsible for logistics and communication between the site, our workshop, and Hilti
  • Resourcing Lead, in charge of recruitment and full compliance with employer obligations

Execution

Installation started in mid-April—just one week after contract award. Work progressed well in May–June.
Then the Client requested an accelerated schedule: they wanted the first building completed 30 days earlier than agreed. We recalculated and hired 4 more installers, on fixed-term contracts until the end of August.

Everything worked. We pulled off what had seemed impossible.
When the first building was completed, the Client requested an offer for the second building—with an even tighter timeline, removing another 25 days. Total reduction: 55 days.

After careful consideration, we accepted.
This required:

  • Overtime
  • Weekend work
  • Enhanced logistics
  • Extra planning
  • Tight cashflow management

Outcome

We achieved what few believed possible

A double-revenue project, completed 55 days ahead of schedule—a schedule so demanding that many competitors wouldn’t even bid.

In September 2025, the installation division of Makinakorjaamo Oy was spun off into a separate company, Rackline Oy, which now focuses on data center support structure installations, with Hilti Group as its key partner.
